I like to leave inspiration and encouragement with the students I meet. My presentations are geared to encourage students and open up their imaginations to the potential of themselves. I enjoy drawing for the students and if possible with the students. Each presentation can be geared to your specific needs.

Want to encourage your students to read, inspire thier creativity, rev up thier imaginations....Invite Marita to your school for a illustration presentation, or plan an artist-in resident program. Marita will work with you and your school to plan an encouraging, fun, creative program leaving your students inspired and creative.

Presentations:
Marita Gentry is available for school presentations and artist-in-resident programs for grades K-12.
Artist-in-resident programs are programs planned for consecutive class room visits over a week or more. The project can be as big as a school mural, or as simple as writing and illustrating individual books. Each artist-in-resident program is planned to integrate core curriculum subjects and benchmarks along with providing professional art instruction to the students. Such programs last one week or longer, with the artist meeting with one class at a time for hands-on instruction. Contact Marita Gentry for more information on planning a program for your school.
Illustrator visits are created to suit your audience needs. Geared for classroom or library presentations with small class groupings, or an auditorium presentation. Presentations include a slide
presentation and discussion of the role of an illustrator in creating a picture book, a reading of The Gigantic Sweet
Potato,Madame Poulet & Monsieur Roach, or The Cajun Cornbread
Boy; and an illustrating
demonstration. Presentations last approximately 45 minutes. If books are pre-sold Marita will sign each book.
Presentation Needs:
Artist-in-resident programs will depend on project and the art supplies needed.
For Illustrator visits, sound system depending on room size (for auditoriums), a computer and screen for power
point presentation, Small table.
Educator Workshops:
Marita is also available for teacher in-services. Teacher in-services focus on integrating art into a core curriculum subjects, giving ideas and lessons plans, and covering class management with art supplies.
